SKKU-UCLA-NTU Precision Biology Research Center (PBRC)

SKKU-UCLA-NTU Precision Biology Research Center (PBRC)

Organizational Purpose

  • Establishment of a Research Center Connecting Nano Biology Technology and Clinical Research

  • Research collaboration with overseas universities (NTU, UCLA) (hosting international symposiums, exchanging specialized personnel, etc.)

Research Objectives

Identifying emerging challenges in the biological and biomedical systems and proposing solutions through Precision NanoBiology technology, thereby establishing a bridgehead enabling diverse nanomaterials/nanotechnologies developed at the bench side to rapidly transition to clinical application at the bedside.

Research Plan

Research on the detection and analysis of signaling biomolecules and biomarkers using chemical nanolithography. 2-3 professors from each institution are participating.

  • SKKU : Development of an Optics-Based Detection/Diagnostic Platform (Prof. Kim, Donghwan et al.)

  • NTU : Development of Nanomedicines for Antiviral Applications (Prof. Cho, Namjoon et al.)

  • UCLA : Research on the Interrelationship Between Nanomaterials and Biosystems (Prof. Paul S. Weiss et al.)

Organizational Structure

BICS Affiliated Research Institutions (Administrative Support: Sungkyun Convergence Institute Administrative Office)

Director of the Research Institute: Professor Kim, Donghwan

  • Appointment of Research Fellows (approximately 3 full-time faculty members) and 2 Postdoctoral Researchers
