Overview

Welcome to BICS

The Biomedical Institute for Convergence at SKKU (BICS) was established in September 2016 to provide a platform for collaborative research among bio-field researchers from various academic units within Sungkyunkwan University. Our goal is to produce world-class research achievements in the field of Biomedical Imaging, which is an area of great strength and future potential for SKKU. BICS is striving to become a top 10 global research institution and to generate the highest level of biomedical research outcomes in Korea through collaborative projects among participating faculty, close cooperation with IBS research groups, securing large-scale national research grants, establishing the Bio FEB, and attracting global corporate research labs.

BICS conducts research in diverse bio-fields, including Integrated Theragnostics, Nano Biomaterials, Drug Delivery Systems, Nerve Sensors, and Bio-Imaging Systems. We also support research activities in basic and applied sciences by establishing a shared system of bio-analytical equipment for various analytical tests.

BICS Operational Direction

  • To provide a top-tier bio-research platform for researchers at SKKU.
  • To focus on developing new technologies and supporting commercialization (ventures) by discovering outstanding interdisciplinary research themes from both within and outside the university.
  • To foster SKKU's key bio-research fields and research groups through strategic research projects.
